The London Nº1 around the world – Quaglino’s, London (England)

London is the capital of the United Kingdom. It is a metropolitan city which is often considered as the world’s cultural capital, where cultures are combined and worlds mix.

Quaglino’s is a modern restaurant found in the heart of London, Mayfair. It’s extensive cocktail list, live entertainment and balcony views turns it into a place you will want to pass the evening.

A Hungarian bartender that works there, Martin Balo, was only 19 years old when he started. He came to London to follow his passion, and the need of a change of scenery lead him to Quaglino’s where he has managed to develop his star cocktail: “Victoria’s Garden”.

The blend between the bitter Cynar, an Italian liqueur, and the sweet Cointreau blood Orange French liqueur, gives the drink a balanced flavour that is perfect as an aperitif or mealtime.

It’s punchy, delicate long aftertaste and blue colour are in honour of one of England’s most treasured queens, Queen Victoria. When she was on the throne, Buckingham Palace’s garden was full of beautiful flowers, which are represented in this cocktail.

In this cocktail, the flavour of the gin The London Nº1 is complemented, not overwhelmed. It’s refreshing character makes it the perfect cocktail for summer.
